Press Release: The Business Confidence Index, Quarter 4, 2013-14, NCAER
New Delhi, Tuesday May 20, 2014: The current survey was conducted just ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in April 2014. The expectations of a new electoral mandate may have influenced the overall sentiments besides some macroeconomic and sectoral level improvements in the recent quarter. While upturn in growth itself remained elusive, there was a positive news on moderating inflation rate, lower current account deficit, rupee rate and stock prices.

Press Release: The Business Confidence Index, Quarter 3, 2013-14, NCAER
New Delhi, Monday, 24 February 2014: Amidst concerns of slower growth and persistent inflation there was a continuous slide in business sentiments through 2012-13. However, 2013-14 witnessed some fluctuations in business conditions as exports improved, agricultural output grew combined with signs of moderation of inflation rate. The Business Confidence Index (BCI) compiled by the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) reflects these fluctuations as it shows significant improvement in its latest survey for the third quarter of FY13-14 following a decline in the previous quarter.

Nandan and Rohini Nilekani have announced a gift of Rs 50 crore (about US$ 8.1 million) to the National Council of Applied Economic Research in New Delhi to increase NCAER’s endowment and to fund the establishment of the new NCAER India Centre and new research and knowledge capabilities at NCAER. This is one of the largest private gifts in India's history to an independent research organisation in economics.

Press Release: Private vs. Government: New Evidence on School Performance and Implications for India’s Right to Education Act
New Delhi, October 8, 2013: Private schools in rural Andhra Pradesh operate at substantially lower per-child cost than government schools and deliver slightly better learning outcomes, according to results from the Andhra Pradesh School Choice Project, a study designed to measure the educational outcome differences between private schools and government schools.
